Ah I know the feeling. It's tough. And the shame and depression following don't make it better. I know you're probably looking for re-assurance, and trust me this will pass but if I can share a couple things that have helped me along the way: 1. Go easy on yourself. You're facing something that most of people don't know how to understand. And getting down on yourself isn't going to do anything to make it any better. So go easy. And some times you may want to try this technique from inner bonding therapy: *imagine your inner emotional self as you as a child, from age 3 to 6 or so. All the child wants it is to be unconditionally loved, so give it that. Tell your inner child that no matter what happens you love him/her and will always be there. Sometimes you have to start a dialog, ask it what's wrong. Listen to it's concerns, reassure it. And when you're done remind it that you're always there to talk.* Inner bonding therapy is the shit, google it. 2. **BREATHE** - If you have been to a speech pathologist you may have learned this. Or maybe not. But some disfluency can come from just running out of air. If you can remember to take some deep belly breathes in natural places in your speech can go a long way. 3. *Meditate* because a calm mind that can maintain equanimity during stressful situations is a healthy and strong one. The benefits from daily meditation over the course of weeks or months shouldn't be flippantly thrown away. 4. Head into the fire as much as possible. This isn't the most fun this to do but the more you expose yourself to situation like this one, the more resilient you'll become to them. Maybe not one like this exactly if it's too overwhelming. But *gradually* over time you need to be a uncomfortable, little by little.. Until you build the emotional strength handle stuff like this without it throwing you into the dumps. 5. Lastly, if it's been awhile since you've seen a speech pathologist, consider it. There are options if you're not on insurance and live in a city or near a college.
