We don't stutter with people that cannot possibly judge us for how we speak. That includes children, pets and of course, yourself. That's when our brain flips the switch and becomes fluent. What a dick right? I have noticed that I now stuttering more and more in front of my little nephews as they grow older and become into the sensibilities of judging people. When they were tiny I wouldn't stutter even once. I wish our brains could see everyone as a pet or a child and flip the switch. It can speak fluently but it just doesn't want do it.
