I actually use your second tip and i think everyone should, i don't know how it works in other countries but in my country you have the main teacher and there are the teachers who teach you the subjects. So my parents or I ask the main teacher to tell the others about my stutter so they don't make me speak in front of the whole class. I don't see it as avoiding because I think people should know about your stutter being a diagnosed thing rather than see you stutter and embarrassing yourself.
