Referrals are a good way to seek a therapist. Interview the therapist before you start treatment. Plan on interviewing several therapists before you settle on one. Trust your gut. If you feel pressured, that is a red flag. If they want your insurance or payment before consultation, walk away. IMO, doctors and therapists are consultants. You pay them for their expertise and assistance. But you are ultimately responsible for your own care.
