It’s rare for me. I have a 19 month old son and it caught him off guard when he first started understanding when people were talking. Now, he honestly sits and waits for me to finish if I’m stuttering before he turns his head or starts talking again himself. None of my nephews or niece ever asked about it or thought it strange, they just take it as normal. I’ve been lucky in those respects.
