For me it has been looking at my stutter as a reflection of a greater spiritual/psychological issue. I've came to the conclusion that I created my stutter on some level of mind/consciousness and it is not a physical issue that I am a victim of. It is about a web of thought and emotions we entrap ourselves in which perpetuates itself. It becomes part of our identity. I think Stuttering in a great teacher in many ways, it really cuts to the essence of how we view ourselves. In a practical sense, many books and practices have helped. Look up John Harrison's "Redefining Stuttering", Bodenheimers book on Nuerolinguistics. I try to meditate and do yoga which helps me feel good and confident. You can gain positive momentum and ride it to more fluency. I think first we need to accept our Stuttering too.
