Do everything you can to encourage him and don’t make him feel like he’s doing something wrong when he stutters. My family always cast my stuttering in a negative light and even sometimes would scream “slow down!”. This eventually made my stutter worse because of the fear associated with it. So here I am 28 years old and dealing with the psychological effects of prolonged fluency disorder which is way worse than the stutter itself. I’m just now learning how to cope with it! Encourage honesty as well. He shouldn’t feel afraid to tell people around him if he’s having a hard time with a word and in time the lack of fear could actually correct it completely.
