Haha oh my god, it’s like I could write this myself! I’m in the same boat. I love public speaking as long as I’m excited about the topic. Can’t memorize anything though, just have to deliver it. Yes, I have felt I stuttered for interviews that aren’t the right path. However, it didn’t ruin my reputation to stutter horribly enough to hold the interviewer’s hand in a handshake while blocking on their name for 15-30 seconds. It was just a mediocre interview because I didn’t have my examples or stories built up and refined. My stutter just compounded that fact. It’s okay to stutter and your reputation is the career success you’ve had so far. Your team can probably rely on you quite well. In my recent job search I’ve been trying to disclose more by saying “I have a stutter so you might hear it as I answer your question about ___” on the first question.
