I’m 71 years old and have stuttered as long as I remember. The primary thing I’ve learned that stuttering has no rhyme or reason. I see stuttering as having a mind of its own. I know that’s untrue, but it helps me cope with stuttering at the most inopportune times. My stuttering comes in waves—not constant—not nonexistent. My parents also spent thousands of dollars. I can’t say I’ve accepted my stuttering… ever, but I’ve just said f%ck it. It is what it is.
