For years I've called it stuttering but was told by a speech pathologist during a consultation that wasn't the case. She said what my son had was more of a stammer and that there was a difference. I tried to have him evaluated when he was younger but his teachers never heard the problem or just didn't pay attention. Also I'm not panicking I'm just frustrated, I've been trying to find help for him for what seems like 2 years but everybody's help comes with a price tag I can't afford. He hates that he stutters and has been embarrassed by it in the past. He has ADHD and anxiety so I'm sure that doesn't help. I try my best to help him but the only methods I know to use are suggest he writes things down before speaking on the phone and stopping him mid stutter so he can collect his thoughts and telling him to say it again one word at a time. Those methods have helped, at times he will even stop talking and self correct.
