Stuttering at the Beginning of Talking

Stuttering at the Beginning of Talking Hey Redditors, I'm not a chronic stutterer, but the times when I stutter out of control is when I try to talk or start a conversation. Like, it can be as simple as asking for a bagel at a deli and I'm stuck on "Ummm... ummm... umm...", trying to look like I'm contemplating their extensive menu. I try to get around it by starting out with greetings like "Good morning",etc., but I still hit that "ummm" wall right away. Once I get going I don't really stutter, it's starting to talk that takes a whole lot of work. Any suggestions? Also, I'm bilingual and speak well in English and Spanish, although my English is clearly stronger in terms of advanced vocabulary and specific jargon (I know Spanish because my parents and family immigrated to the US, so Spanish and home and in my neighborhood while English at school, my friends, and everywhere else basically). I stutter waaaaaay more in Spanish and I tried to use the same techniques I used in English like slowing down when talking, really visualizing the words as I speak, but I still stutter to a large degree on an everyday basis. Any help there? Thanks in advance for the responses!
