I would go and see a health professional or a chemist or something, if you can speak normally when with just one person or in a familiar group then I think it’s something you may be able to work on without assistance of substances or chemicals! Said substances or chemicals however may be a better way of helping you build confidence or break the habit maybe? I’m no professional but I don’t think alcohol is the best idea, I’d get really sleepy later in the day if it was me. I don’t blame you for your first days at college though that must be nerve wracking!! Hope you had a good first day
