I'm a person who stutters. and throughout my stuttering journey I've been deeply curious about how my stuttering works. So. One question I asked myself was: *What happens if I let go of both auto-pilot speech and controlled speech, knowing that both tend to exacerbate my stuttering?* *And instead reinforce automatic processes?* When trying to answer this question during my self discovery.. I began to notice the value judgments that surfaced whenever I tried to reinforce automatic processes (in an attempt to try achieving stuttering remission). To my surprise, I found several value judgments that actually intensified my own approach-avoidance conflict, that triggered my stuttering. For example, one value judgement I seemed to rely on, was: *"I should anticipate speech execution maladaptively, using a freeze-pain mechanism, instead of allowing it to happen painlessly."* What [value judgments ](https://www.google.com/search?q=value+judgements+%22should%22)or "should" statements intensify your own approach-avoidance conflict?
