Just to play devil's advocate, if you have no negative thoughts about your stutter, why are you going to therapy and trying to stop it? The next time this happens, perhaps write down your feelings. What you were thinking/feeling going into the conversation; how you felt in midst of the techniques not working; and how did you feel after? Maybe that will help make sense of things.
