I'd like to hear more about your awkwardness, and subjecting people to it 😂. You say you can't really complain, I've never really been comfortable with my awkwardness. It may be an issue I have with overthinking my own behavior towards others, a discomfort with myself I suppose. Your idea of joining Meetups is great, just gotta get over that initial wall of anxiety. I've been interested in hospice and animal rescue volunteer work but again that wall can actually strangle any kind of motivation toward exposing myself. I do go to the gym and try to eat healthy and lay off the booze. That's actually been very helpful, but I've been known to backslide. Hey if I did live around you it would be fun to meet up and go dog walking. I'm not sure if this is exposing personal information but I'll just say I'm from the twin cities area. A great place actually to get out and start breaking down that wall (sorry for the cliche).
