Conquering the beast... And by *beast*, I mean the telephone. I don't necessarily have an incapacitating stutter when talking to a person face-to-face. Yes, I do stutter and block rather frequently, but I still have the ability to communicate and the other person can still understand me. However, when it comes to talking on the phone, I am absolutely beyond terrible. I am completely terrified about picking up the phone and calling someone. As I have begun to enter adulthood, I have now been experiencing the woes of not being able to effectively communicate on the phone. From higher education, to working, to scheduling events with friends, they all require the ability to use the phone. I am wondering if any other stutters have this problem and are as equally petrified of the phone as I am. If any other stutters do have this problem, I am wondering how you combat and remedy this debilitating hitch. Solutions from others would also be greatly appreciated. From reading articles, to doing various tasks in my life, to seeing a speech therapist, I am willing to do anything that needs to be done to fix this. Thanks so much! :)
