Finally going to Speech Therapy. Hey guys, Well I finally got in touch with my university's Communications Disorders Clinic and will be starting speech therapy sessions in July! I have had therapy before, but I didnt really seem to get much out of it, the therapist seemed more geared toward children who stutter than adults who do, so it didnt really pan out like I wanted it to. But now I'll be with a SLP grad assistant from the Communications Disorder Program. As I was setting up the appointment and the lady was showing me the facilities, I mentioned that I if there is any way that I could help with the CD/SLP program at the school that would be great. I was hesitant to mention it, but after getting some feedback from /r/slp[1] , I decided to go ahead and ask. That thread is [here]( http://www.reddit.com/r/slp/comments/367b6x/as_a_college_student_who_stutters_could_i_be_of/) This is gonna be pretty interesting since my interest in stuttering has really kicked on in the past few months for whatever reason. If summer goes well, hopefully I will also do Fall sessions. So for any college students out there, if your university has a SLP/Communications Disorder program or Clinic, do not hesitate to ask for help with your stutter or if you are up for it to help the school do research on stuttering if there is an interest. I am pretty much at the point now where I have decided to live with the stutter instead of trying to get rid of it or make it go away. Its defined who I am and I am perfectly fine with that. There are still many hurdles to face with it (along with my social anxiety), but I am now at the point where I can face it and work alongside it to help others.
