I'm also in leadership at a tech company. I agree that small talk is painful but I work remote so I get out of doing most of that. I also lead a group of developers who do not like to engage in any form of human interaction so most of our conversations are via slack and I don't have to talk anyway. I feel like I got to where I am by being totally open and honest with people about my stutter. Also by being fierce via email. You don't want to get an email from me that's more than 2 paragraphs. Chances are it contains a veiled insult and is signed "Best Regards"!
