I usually tell my professors I have a stutter at the beginning of the semester. One offered to not call on me unless I raised my hand, but I told her that won't be necessary, and to treat me like any other student. I just like getting it off my chest. Most professors encourage me to speak up more after I tell them. Kind of helps with the confidence, really.
