I recently rang my doctor for a completely unrelated thing, and they identify you at my doctor's surgery by asking your date of birth. This is something that can't be changed or avoided, and I tend to block when I get to the year of my birth. But once I said it, the receptionist did the other side of the line bust into laughter and asking "do you not know your own date of birth?"... somewhat incredulously. Which I thought was really weird for a doctor's receptionist who I imagine must get lots of people with all sorts of problems. But immediately said no no I'm just a lifelong stammerer and struggle with words I can't change/substitute. And she then apologised and moved on. But yeah, this still happens. It doesn't happen to me often, but it still always throws me off when it does.
