My husband and I sometimes help with Sunday school and the nursery at church. Since it’s easier for me to give the explanation, I’ll tell the kids something like, “Mr. M stutters. That means he has a hard time talking sometimes, just like some people have a hard time seeing or hearing or walking. We can help him by being good listeners.” That’s generally seemed to have gone fine.
