Other people never have stuttering like we do, no matter how stressful a situation for them is (except maybe some extremely stressful situations when they lose their ability to speak but it happens rarely and it have other serious consequences). So that's all different in private settings but it's not what we have to deal with. I sometimes sing publicly and I feel pressure, excitement, fear and such, but it's not the same feeling when I have to speak publicly and I stutter. Stuttering is something completely different. I would rather compare it to a fear of heights. When you can walk completely normal unless you get in a certain situation and then it somehow becomes extremely difficult for you, you completely lose control over your body. While what you talking about is gradation. And if we use your example it would mean other people juggle five plates when speaking publicly while we have ten. And I think it's wrong I think while they juggle plates, our plates become broken glass so we instantly lose control.
