It depends. When I was in elementary and high school, I had "speech therapy" at school but the therapists were... not very good. They tried, just weren't that capable. A few years after I graduated HS I ended up getting into a speech therapy program at Purdue University through Voc Rehab and holy crap... it was life changing. The professor in charge of the program stuttered himself, and the people in his department were really good. I learned so many techniques and tools to help that I still use to this day(it was nearly 20 years ago at this point). It won't cure you, as others have said there is no cure, but if you find the right one, you can learn a lot and get some actual tools to use to help you. Sometimes just having a plan or something to try when you start stuttering can be huge.
