I'm another stutterer who was in "gifted and talented" programs as a kid due to my IQ. The only other stutterers I've met have been neurologists (two of them) and a math professor, but that's probably just due to my education path. I don't really think stuttering is linked to intelligence, but if anyone has any peer-reviewed journal articles that prove it, I would be interested in reading them. Growing up, I've had people tell me I stutter because "my brain is working so fast that my mouth can't keep up", but I think that's just a kind attempt for them to make me feel better about it.
