I used to stutter on my name during class introductions in 9th-11th grade. And then, my confidence increase and I can say my own name in introductions, and I wonder the the hell I couldn’t do it before. It is now because I am more confident that I can say it. I am fucking convinced that stuttering on certain words is a self imposed delusion. If I can say my name fine in private but not in public, the only new variable is the presence of others and their potential judgement. Learning to be comfortable being embarrassed and overall increasing your confidence will help you reduce stuttering. It is so much easier said than done, but you can do it. I promise. If you can say a word in private, you can say it in public. It’s all a matter of confidence. I want to mention: please check out my post about stuttering and meditation. Mediation has been life changing for me regarding my stutter.
