Wow, that's really great and generous! I'm in my mid 20s and while I still a way to go, i've made huge strides in therapy. I have many peers who have done the same, so success in therapy is still very possible. Just a couple points I want to make. 1) It's actually pretty hard to find a good SLP (speech language pathologist) who really *gets* stuttering and know how to give you relief. 2) You can deliver great presentations while having disfluencies. If you think you what amounts to a good presentation is being fluent, look at all the horrible presenters out there who are totally fluent but can't effectively communicate their information. Stuttering is no more a barrier to being an effective presenter than is having an accent . So while you might go to an SLP want tell her you want fluency, know that it isn't the silver bullet we sometimes think it is. Plus if you've ever done fluency shaping before, you'll know how they often fail when you need them most. Let me know if live in the DMV area because there are some great SLPs there.
