Conventional speech therapy did not work for me. I've been to 3 speech therapists in different stages of my life, while it definitely helped me while still in therapy, but as soon as I stopped it, it gradually became worse until it had no effect on me. I've joined the McGuire program about 1.5 years ago, and I can honestly say that I'm more comfortable in tough speaking situations. Although I must stress that it is not a cure for stuttering, they teach you how to control your speech (physically) and mentally accepting your stutter ( psychologically). And the support network it has offers lifetime support for when you feel the need to practice or improve your speech. I think you'd do great in the McGuire program, from what I've read in your post and your comments, you're more self accepting than most of us, and dedicated enough to make effort in improving your stutter. I suggest you do your research on it, I hope it will work for you, as it have for so many people and myself included.
