When you think about stuttering what do you think about? What do you believe will happen and/or what meaning do you attach to it? Projecting on listeners and/or personalizing the stutter both cause *state anxiety (fear of stuttering).* Think about in sports when the athlete says to self "DON"T MISS IT!" that is exactly what happens- they miss it. In an interview if we desperately try to NOT stutter, we will probably either avoid a lot or stutter a lot.
