You're doing fine :) If just saying "goodnight" is too difficult maybe it is easier for you to have something before the 'g' like saying "have a good night" or you could say "enjoy your evening". The thing about being sweet and friendly like you while having a disability is it can soften people up a bit (also can sometimes satisfyingly make mean ppl feel a bit shitty about themselves and be nicer lol) if you try to engage with others. I understand the awkwardness and embarrassment. I can tell that being involved in a friendly work environment is important to you. I totally understand what you mean when you say that you have trouble responding to small talk. I feel a bit "dumb" pretty often because I feel like I lack the life experience needed to engage with other people on that social level. Because of my stutter, I spent a lot of time just observing how other people interact with each other. Everyone gets along better with certain types of people or in certain situations or conversations, etc. It's okay to only have a few people that you relate easily with and it's okay to try to connect with other people that you feel safe with, people that won't judge you. I kind of get a kick out of talking to people (assholes) that I can tell don't like me, but that's just me lol.
