Going to echo what a few others said - something like 75% of kids who stutter grow out of it, but bc she’s a bit older and bc you have concerns totally a good idea to follow up right away with the referral to an SLP. Other things that come to mind: 1. When do you get the referral, it’s a good idea to ask the SLP what her comfort level and experience is surrounding stuttering. I know many SLPs who know little about stuttering. 2. While I think it’s great that your daughter has not appeared frustrated, I would ask the SLP to help you with how to talk about stuttering with your daughter, directly or indirectly, since it’s possible she has feelings related to it already that you do not see. You are doing the exact right things and are clearly a competent and caring parent! Hope all goes well for your family.
