There is nothing wrong with wanting to be the center of attention. It's just not my personality. I've been at my job for 15 years and I have been in leadership positions before, spoken in large meetings, and led trainings. Even though they know I stutter I am still asked to do these because I am a knowledgeable employee. Just a knowledgeable employee who happens to stutter. Getting shamed for it sucks and being embarrassed happens. But know that most people don't actually care, and if they do that's their problem. However, in my personal life where I get to decide how something goes, I am getting married quietly because that is what my husband and I wanted.
