Yes, singing can work really well. Staying upbeat, using lots of affirmations and positive self-talk. (" I speak well and I get my point across just fine. I am great at what I do. I'm feeling really good today. This is going to be a great day. I have so many great opportunities coming my way. Other people are really happy to see me and lucky to have me around.) <<This definitely helps! I had a lot of trouble at my last job with speaking over the intercom (I worked in a grocery store, had to call for certain people in the store, or make announcements). I used to work as a security guard. I rarely ever stuttered when speaking face to face with people, but over the 2-way radio Id stutter so badly sometimes. Even just check-ins, Id have such trouble saying "go ahead" or the ten codes like "10-4". Sometimes another thing that helps is to get a sentence flowing, but saying something (anything) right before that difficult word. Draw it out a bit, sort of like this....*deep breath* Okaay so that will beee seven fifty six". Also you can sort of focus your mind not on the "f" of fifty but on the "ifty" so the "f" barely comes out. I was in speech therapy for a while and one thing I learned was to speak more gently. Its called gentle starts, where you barely articulate the first letter of the word. Write out a sentence, and try saying it very softly and slowly, and for each word just touch on the first letter ever so softly.
