I read a book that changed my life as a stutterer. The book is called the "5 Second Rule" by Mel Robbins. In that book she drops some GOLDEN NUGGETS to help you in life and the 2 nuggets I use is: (1) When I have to call someone for my job, I start counting backwards...5-4-3-2-1-GO. Once I say GO, I pick up the phone and start dialing. I force myself to make the call. If I stutter, I quickly do my belly breath and continue on. (2) Another golden nugget is I turn my ANXIETY and FEAR into EXCITEMENT !!!! Once I did those 2 techniques, I became more relaxed when having to call someone for my job. The key is practice, practice practice. I wish you GOOD LUCK and know that YOU GOT THIS !!!! You have such courage in you that you have no idea of.....tap into it by stepping out of your comfort zone a little bit every day. As you are doing this, you are building momentum and your confidence is going to increase while your fluency improves. Furthermore, don't get me wrong, I still have blocks but now I don't dwell on it and I focus on living my life. Good luck!
