why do antidepressants help stuttering?

why do antidepressants help stuttering? whenever i stop them i start to stutter even when i try to speak slowly i still suffer,its embarrassing, should i take antidepressants for the rest of my life or what,the weirdest thing that i stop antidepressants gradually not immediately and still get stuttering.
