Once again, not a recruiter so take this with a grain of salt. My understanding is that relevant experience to any given career field is good to have on your application, but it’s not everything. Many young officers come in straight from completing their bachelor’s degrees at 21 or 22 years old & have little actual job experience outside of whatever they managed to squeeze in while attending school. Focus on selling yourself as a leader first & foremost, citing experiences you’ve had in which you’ve grown/developed as a person & helped others do the same. I believe there’s some kind of essay component on most branches’ officer application packages, so that’s your opportunity to tell your story & convince them that you’re a better candidate than anyone else they’re considering. There are plenty of resources out there for building strong application packages, so I’d start by becoming familiar with what a strong application looks like for whatever branch or branches you may be considering. That way you can start addressing any gaps you may have now & be that much better prepared for whenever you do submit a package down the line.
