My alcoholic dad developed a stutter kinda, and It makes me uncomfortable

My alcoholic dad developed a stutter kinda, and It makes me uncomfortable (19m) my dads been an alcoholic for a while now, and as he continues drinking his speech is getting worse, along with his memory. I'm not sure if its because his memory is bad and he cant think of the words so he just repeats syllables until he thinks of it, or if the alcohol literally caused a stutter, but It makes me cringe to hear. I can say confidently, he never had issues with fluency before his drinking got excessive. Even when hes not intoxicated, he trips up on words and slurs his speech as well. it just makes me so uncomfortable because his doing it to himself by drinking so much. Also, since I have a stutter, It makes me feel bad about myself because I think that's what I sound like, even though my stutter is mainly blocks and prolongations. but I was basically wondering two things. Can excessive drinking cause speech disfluencies, and how can I cope with listening to it?
