Sometimes work can be like dating, you have to leave your house to meet people. It isn't bars, it's actually being out in the world. For dating, tell people you are single and want to be set up. 9 times out of 10, folks will say they don't know anyone for you right now, but every now and then it works. Same goes for careers, if you mingle at a country club (I know I know), bicycling clubs are HUGE in Silicon Valley, and/ or churches and synagogues, you will meet people. Everyone for the most part believes in "paying it forward". I know someone is going to help you, then when you've got it going on, you are going to help someone else! Another place to meet people is [meetup.com](http://meetup.com) It's national and has all kinds of cool meetups - some cost money and some are for free.
