Sounds like I've met someone else with a severe stutter as well. Some stutterers are more mild, but you sound similar to me. Mine's very severe, I tend to block and have repetitions on every other word, if not every word. One in-person interview I had (not engineering), I told the woman up front I had a stutter. Don't remember what she said, and she didn't ever offer me a chance to write answers down, but she was quite patient. I maintained eye contact for as often as I could. But my speech was awful. Didn't get the job, but I got a different job so it's all good. I've had instances in school and work, meeting with people who had let me write things down when they couldn't understand me. So embarrassing, but I got through it.
