I remember being in school and having problems with one guy bullying me about my stutter. He would tell me to ‘spit it out’ all the time when I was having a block. I spoke to my dad about this, he also stuttered and his advice was to literally spit on him the next time he said it. This guy and I are reasonably close now. It was a bit of a turning point for dad and me, a change in our relationship given stuttering was a big thing we shared.
