Yep, my anxiety was getting out of control too, so my doctor put me on Fluoxetine (Prozac), and now my anxiety Is significantly reduced. It’s helped a lot with my fluency because I don’t experience the physiological effects of anxiety anymore, but I still stutter from time to time if my mood becomes heightened (anger, frustration etc). These mood elevations cause dopamine and adrenaline spikes in our brain, which exacerbates stuttering. However, if I take too much Fluoxetine, the seratonin dampens dopamine too much and I feel more tension or sluggish when trying to speak. Reducing the dose back down seems to have fixed that. I’ve heard Sertraline (another anti-anxiety SSRI) can help others too, but haven’t tried it before personally.
