I found this [poll](https://www.reddit.com/r/Stutter/comments/18wyovf/do_you_often_feel_or_know_that_you_will_stutter/), in which people who stutter reported often experiencing tension or pressure in the throat, that they have "learned" to associate with the imaginary concept (or stutter image) that stuttering is about to occur (intrusive thought or feeling), further developing a sensation of loss of control.
