Stammer-er who lives in the UK here too. I got lucky and got a 6 week session with a speech therapist under the NHS, but it hardly scratch the surface. Generally speaking, it seems like the NHS does not support speech therapy for people who stammer because there is no funding in it. There are loads of private ones, but they usually cost £100 a session which is awful. :(
