To be fair sn't all acting fake? I have a Drama degree and a stutter my whole life. Through my degree (2001-2005) other students who acted would ask me about it. It's like an accent, good actors talk to someone with that accent until they have it down. Nuances with stutters are a bit more noticable so actors would only have the specific stutter of the person they might use as an example for reference. Have done a bit of writing too, with characters who stutter, how I write it is as a general direction, if it's written into the dialogue then it's going to be very clear 'acting' and not portrayal, if an actor is given a natural script, devises a stutter that's consistent, then I don't see why, like with an accent, it can't be acted well. It's an under represented characteristic in tv/film - I have yet to watch Dracula, it's on my list though. Will give it a look and keep this in mind, thanks for the heads up.
