I agree with everything you said. Yes indeed, we cannot remove hardwired thoughts/feelings (or eliminate triggers). You correctly pointed out that this is impossible. Perhaps, an alternative workaround could be: (1) learning to not care about triggers, intrusive thoughts/feelings (2) learning to not pay attention to them (3) learning to focus on more words ahead (instead of keeping our focus on the feared letter) (4) learning to focus on fluency laws like rhythm or instructing forward flow (5) learning to tolerate them to reduce emotional/avoidance responses and therefore reduce doing fight, flight and freeze mode
