There was a kid a couple years younger than me in school that had a strong stutter, much much worse than mine. Poor kid used to spend his lunch time in the library to avoid talking to people, I always made a point to pop in say hi and get him talking... he used to hate it at first but as time went on he understood I wasn't judging him on it and that I was interested in what he had to say... over time he became comfortable talking to me, I think he really appreciated how I wouldn't finish his words / I was wasn't waiting for him to finish his words, so he was able to talk to me stress free.
