I’ve had a stutter as long as I can remember, since I learned to speak. I’m currently 17 and have had a girlfriend for almost a year. All it takes is finding someone who understands. And if you’re anything like me it gets a little bit more manageable if you’re comfortable with whoever you’re around. Regardless, there’s no need to rush it. Being in a relationship just for the sake of being in a relationship never works out. As for the speech therapy thing, the techniques never worked for me either. I’ve been in speech therapy since I was 4. Nowadays in highschool my speech therapist is more of a friend. She’s really great about getting teachers to make accommodations for me so I don’t have to give speeches and stuff like that. As for the parents thinking it’s getting better, have a talk with them. Tell them that it isn’t, this will at least (hopefully) get them to work with the school on special accommodations for you to have an easier time. The last time I had to give a speech the stutter was so bad that I burst something in my nose and it bled all over my paper, safe to say I got an A!
