It's definitely genetic. Although my father overcame his stuttering, me and two of my younger brothers inherited his stuttering. Me and my younger brother have mild stuttering, while my youngest brother's stuttering is/was severe (he has improved significantly thanks to speech therapy). I can't remember if my father's brother had stuttering too but the genetic stuff happen within my family.
