People make fun of people with missing limbs and make fun of people with tragic lives and even make jokes about those with severe disabilities. That's a reflection of how horrible those people are, not the person being made fun of. And, most of those people making fun of others are themselves harbouring some deep-seated insecurities. You're absolutely right in thinking they aren't worth your time.
