I was also very hesitant but I went to speech therapy around your age. I guess in the end I was just desperate. I have a difficult history with speech therapy and was very upfront about this from the start and my speech therapist met me where I was at. You need to find the right one. I also encourage you to find community and resources online because the psychological part was huge for me.
