When I was younger (Gen X) and my stutter was more severe, I barely made it through interviews. I was passed over for many jobs. I could usually pick up on body language when I knew they weren’t interested. So I joined the military as a default. Left the military and was met with the same resistance. Homeless (but living in an unrented apartment before being called out) for 3 months but eventually persistence was on my side. I fought through the internal cringe and eventually ended up figuring out how to manage my stutter. Best advice I can give although it’s not comforting is never quit. Keep pushing. Go after what you want. FTW and thicken your skin and steele your heart. If you are concerned about discrimination, be aware it will happen but hold them accountable any way you can. Don’t be afraid to be the bad guy to a discriminatory person.
